Smiling Wide Orthodontics is a specialist orthodontic practice with clinics in Bundaberg, Maryborough and Hervey Bay.

Meet Our Team

DR PHIL SAXBY

Dr Saxby attended Eagle Junction State and Brisbane Grammar schools, prior to graduating in 1973 from the University of Queensland Bachelor of Dental Science degree with honours. After working in Ayr, North Queensland and Leicester, England, Phil completed his Masters degree in Orthodontics in 1981, back at the University of Queensland. Phil has been exclusively practising specialist orthodontics in this region for more than 30 years.


Since starting his practice in Wide Bay, Phil has helped thousands of children and adults get beautiful smiles using the most modern orthodontic treatments. Phil's philosophy is to treat the person as an individual and use the most appropriate treatment for each individual situation. With this aim, he has an extensive range of materials and methods available to assist in delivering the perfect smile for you. Phil is a dedicated professional who actively maintains a commitment to further education in orthodontics to deliver the best results possible.


Phil is also a long-standing member of the Australian Society of Orthodontists and the World Federation of Orthodontists.

DR PAUL DEVER

Dr Dever is a young and energetic orthodontist with a passion for orthodontics.


Paul graduated with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Queensland in 2001 with majors in the fields of Biomedical Science and Developmental Biology. Immediately following this he moved to Sydney (with his now wife, Yesmin) so that he could undertake a Bachelor of Dentistry. He graduated with honours in 2005.


After graduation as a dentist, Paul returned to Queensland where he worked at Maleny on the southern end of the Sunshine Coast for 4 years, as a general dentist.


In 2010 Paul, Yesmin and their daughter Reagan moved to Melbourne so that Paul could commence a training position in the orthodontic programme at the University of Melbourne.


Paul achieved his Fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons, Fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh and his Doctor of Clinical Dentistry degree in Orthodontics, University of Melbourne 2012.

  • Registered with the Dental Board of Australia as a Specialist Orthodontist

Paul enjoys spending his spare time with his wife and 3 young children, as well as watching any code of football. He has an interest in motorsports and flying.


Of course, our practice also consists of many friendly and helpful assistant staff who make day-to-day operations possible. When combined with our doctors, our team enables us to provide a friendly, relaxed service to patients of all ages.
